Macrolides are antibiotics often prescribed to treat respiratory tract infections. Reports of QT prolongation and hepatotoxicity are common, but increased levels of potassium (hyperkalemia) is not a commonly noted side effect. Other known side effects of macrolides include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. Therefore, increased K+ is the only option that is not a noted side effect of macrolides.
